Timing your trip right means better weather, better rates, and better availability.
WA's vast size means multiple climate zones. Perth and Margaret River are best September to May. Ningaloo's whale shark season runs March to July. Broome and the Kimberley are strictly dry-season destinations — visit May to October. Wildflower season (August–October) transforms the south-west into a carpet of colour.
Insider Tips for Western Australia
Local knowledge to help you get the most out of your Western Australia accommodation.
Respect the Distances
WA is enormous. Perth to Broome is 2,200 km — that's like London to Istanbul. Plan flights between regions rather than trying to drive everything, or allow serious road-trip time.
Book Ningaloo Early
Sal Salis and other Ningaloo glamping camps have very limited capacity. Book 6–12 months ahead during whale shark season (March–July) for the best availability.
Wildflower Season
From August to October, WA's wildflower season transforms the landscape. Combine accommodation in the Midwest and south-west for the best displays.
