Yes — K'gari (pronounced GUR-ree) is the official Aboriginal name for what was formerly known as Fraser Island. The Queensland Government officially renamed the island K'gari on 7 June 2023, restoring the original Butchulla name (meaning "paradise").

• Traditional Custodians are the Butchulla people, who have occupied K'gari for an estimated 5,000-50,000 years

Important: Treat all dingoes with respect — they are protected wildlife and approaching them is illegal. The Cooee K'gari day tour is operated in partnership with K'gari/Fraser Island licensed specialist operators.

The East Coast is beautiful year-round but the tropical north (Cairns, Whitsundays) has a wet season November-April.

Best months overall: May to October — mild temperatures, low humidity, optimal Great Barrier Reef visibility, whale watching season (June-November humpback migration).

November-April: warmer with summer storms possible in the tropics, but excellent for southern legs (Sydney, Byron, Gold Coast). Avoid late January-February for the tropics if marine stinger season is a concern.

• 60+ days before departure: full refund
• 30-59 days before departure: 50% refund
• Less than 30 days before departure: no refund
