Cessnock, Broke & the villages
For better value or a quieter feel, look just outside the wine core. Cessnock, the gateway town, has motels and more affordable options a short drive from Pokolbin. Broke and Wollombi offer peaceful, rural stays amid boutique wineries and countryside, and the heritage towns of Morpeth and Maitland add characterful accommodation to the east. These suit travellers happy to drive (or tour) in to the cellar doors.
