The $836 million development was designed by Danish firm 3XN/GXN and is the Southern Hemisphere's largest fish market. It features 40 dining and drinking outlets, a working seafood auction handling 55 tonnes per day, a cooking school, oyster shucking demonstrations, and a new ferry connection to Barangaroo. TIME Magazine named it one of the World's Greatest Places 2026. Entry is free — you pay for what you eat and drink. Located beside the ANZAC Bridge, it's easily combined with a harbour walk or ferry trip from the CBD.
September to November (spring) is generally considered the finest time to visit — warm and sunny at 16–25°C, with lower visitor numbers than summer and wildflowers in the Blue Mountains. March to May (autumn) is equally excellent at 18–26°C. December to February brings peak summer heat (24–32°C+), very busy beaches, and the highest accommodation prices.
