Great Barrier Reef Pontoon Day
The one we recommend first, and the one most of our senior guests say was the best day of the trip. A large catamaran out to a moored pontoon on the outer reef, then five or six hours on a stable platform with an underwater observatory below deck, a semi-submersible running on a schedule, glass-bottom boat trips and a buffet lunch under cover. Nothing here requires swimming. For those who do want to, entry is by steps with handrails, flotation vests are provided and a marine biologist is in the water. Shaded seating and a freshwater rinse throughout.
- Underwater observatory — no swimming needed
