Cape to Cape Track — FAQ

What is the Cape to Cape Track?

A long-distance walking trail of about 123 km along the Leeuwin-Naturaliste coast, from Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south, passing beaches, clifftops, karri forest and wildflowers.

How long does it take to walk?

End to end, most walkers take around 5 to 8 days. But you don’t have to do it all — many people walk shorter day sections and return, which is a great way to see the best of the coast.

Is it hard?

It ranges from easy to moderate depending on the section, with some soft sand, rocky stretches and hills. Day sections can be chosen to match your fitness; the full track needs planning, water and preparation.

When is the best time to walk?

Spring (for wildflowers) and autumn are ideal — mild and comfortable. Summer can be hot and exposed; winter is green but wet and windy. Whales pass offshore in season. Always carry water and check the forecast.

Can you just do a short section?

Yes — excellent day walks include sections near Cape Naturaliste, around Prevelly and the river mouth, and near Cape Leeuwin. Pick a stretch, arrange a car shuttle or return the way you came.
