Wilsons Promontory is renowned for its fearless and abundant wildlife. The protected environment means animals are comfortable around humans, offering incredible close-up viewing opportunities.
Full day tour departing Melbourne at 7:30 AM, returning approximately 8:00 PM. The tour covers 3 hours driving each way with 5-6 hours exploring the national park, including multiple short-to-moderate walks, beach visits, and wildlife viewing stops.
Moderate fitness level recommended. Most walks are optional and range from easy boardwalks to moderate climbs like Mount Oberon (approximately 7km return, 2-3 hours). Alternative easier activities available for those who prefer gentler exploration.
Spring (September-November): Wildflowers bloom and mild weather makes hiking ideal. Summer (December-February): Warmest weather, perfect for swimming and beach activities. Autumn (March-May): Fewer crowds with stable weather and active wombats. Winter (June-August): Dramatic coastal scenery and whale watching opportunities.
