The essentials for this trip.

Cooee's most-booked Indochina itinerary, refined over 15+ years of running it. Three things to know before reading the day-by-day: it crosses three borders (we handle all visas), it works year-round but we operate Oct-Mar for the dry-season conditions at Angkor and Ha Long, and despite being our lowest-priced world tour, the inclusions match our other regions.

04 · What's included

No hidden surprises.

A clear breakdown of what's covered. Indochina is famous for cheap-looking headline prices that quietly exclude inter-city flights, the Angkor temple pass, and visa support. Cooee bundles all of these — that alone is roughly $1,200 of value baked into the published price.

  • Daily breakfast plus 8 lunches/dinners as itemised
  • All Angkor temple passes (3-day pass, ~AU$95 value)
  • Ha Long Bay cruise: full board, kayaks, cave entry

  • Group airport transfers (Hanoi arrival, Luang Prabang departure)
  • All temple/museum entrance fees
  • 24/7 emergency support

Not included (typical extras)

  • International flights to Hanoi / from Luang Prabang (typical AU$1,400 economy / $4,500 business via Singapore or Bangkok)

When to go: November–March is the dry season across all three countries — clear skies, lower humidity, daytime 25-30°C. April-May is dry but extremely hot (38°C+). May-October is the wet season — afternoon thunderstorms, lower prices, lush green landscape, but reduced visibility on Ha Long Bay and at Angkor. Cooee runs October-March departures specifically for the comfortable conditions and reliable visibility at the major sites.

★★★★★

Our third Cooee tour and still the best value-per-day trip we've done anywhere in the world. Angkor Wat at sunrise is worth the 4:30am alarm. Hoi An by lantern light is extraordinary. Luang Prabang is the quiet highlight nobody told us about.

Solo at 35, slightly nervous about Asia for the first time. Cooee made it effortless — visa support before departure, local guides everywhere, the group dynamics fantastic. The Mekong floating market was a personal highlight.

07 · Frequently Asked

Specific to this tour.

On-the-ground costs are genuinely lower in Indochina — 4-star hotels run AU$80-150/night vs $250-400 in Europe; meals AU$15-30 vs $40-80. We pass that through. International flights from Australia to Southeast Asia are also cheaper than to Europe or South America. The tour quality is identical to our other regions — same small groups, same local-guide standards, same inclusions discipline. The price reflects local economics, not corner-cutting.
Yes — exceptionally so. All three countries are politically stable and welcoming to Australian travellers. Cooee's small-group format with local guides at every destination removes the guesswork. We have a 40%+ first-time-Asia traveller mix on this itinerary. Average group age is 50-72.
Three visas required for Australian passport-holders — Vietnam eVisa $25 USD, Cambodia eVisa $36 USD, Laos visa-on-arrival $35 USD. Cooee handles all three: we send the application links, review your forms, brief you on entry procedures, and meet you at each border to confirm everything is in order. About $150 in fees total — paid by you direct to each government.
Vietnamese cuisine is herbaceous more than spicy — pho, banh mi, fresh-spring-rolls. Cambodian Khmer is gentle. Laotian larb can be punchy with chilli but always optional. Cooee briefs every meal; spicy is by request, not default. We confirm dietary requirements (vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies) at booking and re-confirm before each group meal.
Shoulders and knees covered for all temples (Angkor especially strict — staff turn away tank tops and short shorts). Cooee provides a sarong-style cover in your welcome pack. No shoes inside many temples — slip-ons recommended. Hats off inside.
Not at all. English is widely spoken in tourist contexts in all three countries. Local guides handle 100% of the in-country logistics and translation. Cooee provides a phrase-card welcome pack with the essentials in all three languages (please, thank you, hello, no MSG). Most guests pick up a few words by Day 5 and the locals love it.
