A Premium Day

Adventure & indulgence, in one perfectly paced day

Designed for couples, anniversaries, milestone celebrations and small groups who want something unforgettable — without compromise on comfort.

Why this isn't your standard wine tour

The Northern Rivers isn't a traditional wine region — and we're not pretending it is. What it is is one of Australia's most exciting craft-spirit and brewing regions, and home to one of the country's best new cycling routes. We've built a day that combines both — with the structure, transport and dining quality of a premium experience.

You'll cycle in the morning when you're fresh, finishing your ride at lunchtime. The afternoon is given over to tastings at the region's most celebrated cellar doors — by vehicle, never on the bike. A driver-guide stays with you all day so no one needs to nominate a designated driver.

Honest note from the team Several premium wine producers locally use "wine" loosely. To be clear: our tastings are at distilleries (Brookie's Gin, Husk Rum) and breweries (Stone & Wood). On the Private tour we can substitute or extend to fruit wineries or the Granite Belt wine region 1.5 hours west.

Brookie's Gin Cape Byron Distillery Brookie's Gin rainforest bar
📍 McLeods Shoot ⏱ Thu–Sun 🌿 B-Corp Certified

Cape Byron Distillery

A father-and-son Scottish-Australian dream realised in 96 acres of regenerated rainforest.

The home of Brookie's Gin, distilled from 25 botanicals, 17 of them sourced directly from the surrounding rainforest the Brook family has spent 35 years regenerating (35,000 trees and counting). The distillery is a collaboration between Byron local Eddie Brook and legendary Scottish Master Distiller Jim McEwan, formerly of Bruichladdich and Bowmore.

Our luxury tours include the full 1h 45min Rainforest Tour & Gin Tasting ($43 RRP, included in your tour price). Walking deck overlooking the macadamia plantation, native-botanical tastings, and the signature Brookie's Rainforest Martini.

Husk Rum & Ink Gin Husk Farm Distillery Tumbulgum paddock
📍 North Tumbulgum ⏱ Wed–Sun from 11am 🌾 Paddock-to-bottle

Husk Farm Distillery

Australia's only paddock-to-bottle Agricole rum producer — and the home of the famously blue Ink Gin.

Set on a working farm in the Tweed Valley, Husk grows 4 hectares of sugar cane on site, crushing around 450 tonnes annually to produce 320,000 litres of cane juice. The result is true Agricole rum — distilled from fresh cane juice rather than molasses, the same method as the great Caribbean rhum agricoles.

Ink Gin, infused with butterfly pea flower, was made famous globally when Margot Robbie was photographed drinking it the day before her Byron wedding. Today the cellar door is one of the most lovely settings in the region — indoor bar, outdoor picnic blankets, paddocks of cane just beyond.

  • Husk Agricole Rum
  • Ink Gin (the famous one)
  • 4 ha sugar cane on site
  • Australia's only paddock-to-bottle

Pacific Ale Stone and Wood Brewery tap room
📍 Byron Bay & Murwillumbah ⏱ Daily tap room 🍺 100% independent

Stone & Wood Brewery

Born in Byron Bay in 2008 — the village brewery that became Australia's most loved craft beer name.

Pacific Ale was voted Australia's #1 craft beer at the 2020 GABS festival from 2,500 nominated beers. Five years on it remains arguably the single most ordered craft pint in the country — and the brewery's still 100% independent and still based in the region where it started.

The Murwillumbah production brewery sits right on the Rail Trail corridor — making this the perfect end-of-day stop. Flight tastings, seasonal releases and the brewery story. Their commitment to closed-loop sustainability (spent grain to local cattle, organic waste to local farms, 50% recycled bottle content) is what's made them a regional icon, not just a beer brand.

  • Pacific Ale tasting flights
  • Seasonal release flights
  • Brewery tour
  • 100% independent
  • GABS #1 beer 2020
  • Closed-loop sustainability

Guest Stories

What luxury guests say after their day

"My husband planned this for our 30th anniversary. The Mercedes V-Class, the e-bikes through the tunnel, lunch at Harvest with paired wines... by the time we got to Brookie's I was emotional. Best day of our trip, possibly our marriage."

Elena C.Sydney · Signature Day

"I'm not a cyclist — I was nervous. The e-bikes made it completely effortless. We rode through the tunnel with the glow worms (which I genuinely thought was a marketing line until we saw them). Husk Distillery was a revelation."

Roisin D.Dublin · Luxury Day

"We booked the Private Reserve as a 40th birthday surprise for my partner. They added a private chef stop and personalised gift packs from each producer. The team thought of everything we hadn't. Worth every dollar."

James & Will K.Brisbane · Private Reserve
Common Questions

Luxury tour FAQs

The questions we hear most often before guests reserve.

Honestly, no — not in the traditional Hunter Valley or Margaret River sense. The Northern Rivers climate is subtropical and too humid for most wine grapes. What the region IS world-class at is craft distilling and brewing: Cape Byron Distillery's Brookie's Gin (25 botanicals, 17 sourced from their own rainforest), Husk Farm Distillery (Australia's first paddock-to-bottle Agricole rum, home of Ink Gin) and Stone & Wood Brewery (Pacific Ale, voted Australia's #1 craft beer at GABS 2020). On this tour you'll taste at three of these world-class cellar doors. A small selection of regional fruit wines and the Granite Belt (1.5 hours west) can be added on private tours.
Very little. We supply premium e-bikes (electric pedal-assist) for every guest, which means the trail's gentle gradients become genuinely easy. You can do most of your riding in 'tour' or 'eco' mode and barely break a sweat. The Rail Trail itself is a former railway corridor with consistent grades — there are no steep climbs. We ride at a relaxed pace with regular stops. As long as you're comfortable balancing on a bicycle, you'll be fine.
We typically ride 15–20km on the Standard and Signature tours, depending on the day's plan — from Murwillumbah south to Stokers Siding or Burringbar, with the highlight being the 524-metre Burringbar Range Tunnel (built in 1894, now home to glow worms and microbats — it's genuinely magical). At an unhurried pace with photo stops, that's about 2 hours of riding spread across the morning. The Private tour can be customised from a short 8km taste up to a 24km full traverse.
The standard line-up is Cape Byron Distillery (the home of Brookie's Gin and "The Original" Australian Single Malt Whisky, on the Brook family's 96-acre macadamia farm at McLeods Shoot) and either Husk Farm Distillery (Australia's only paddock-to-bottle Agricole rum producer, at North Tumbulgum) or Stone & Wood Brewery's Murwillumbah brewery. The Signature tour visits all three. The Private tour can substitute or add Tintenbar Distillery, regional fruit wineries, or extend to the Granite Belt wine region on a multi-day basis.
Yes — every tour includes a sit-down lunch. The Standard tour includes a long lunch at one of the trail-side venues (typically Pedal & Sip Cafe at Mooball or the Victory Hotel). The Signature tour includes a three-course paired lunch at Harvest Newrybar or Three Blue Ducks at The Farm. The Private tour includes a fully bespoke dining experience of your choosing. Dietary requirements are accommodated — please advise at booking.
The day is deliberately structured cycling first, tastings second. You'll ride in the morning when you're fresh, finish the cycling component by lunchtime, then move to the cellar doors by vehicle in the afternoon. You're never riding after tastings. Premium e-bike rental, helmets and high-vis vests are provided. Our team includes a dedicated driver-guide for the day so no one in your group needs to nominate a designated driver. NSW drink-cycling laws still apply on bikes — we take this seriously.
Standard ($345 pp): return luxury transfer from Gold Coast or Brisbane, premium e-bike hire, helmet and high-vis vest, guided cycling on the Rail Trail, morning tea, sit-down lunch at a trail-side venue, two cellar-door tastings, full driver-guide service. Signature ($595 pp): all of the above plus three cellar doors, three-course paired lunch at a hatted restaurant, longer day. Private (from $1,295): fully bespoke for groups up to 6, your own Mercedes V-Class, fully customised cellar door list. All tours include water, refreshments and on-trail mechanical support.
Absolutely. Cape Byron Distillery offers a $20 non-drinker rate (vs $43 for the tasting) which still includes the full rainforest tour and a soft beverage. Stone & Wood's tap room has excellent non-alcoholic options. Brookie's makes outstanding non-alcoholic mocktails using the same native botanicals as their gin. Please advise non-drinker numbers at booking and we'll adjust the package price accordingly. The cycling, the venues and the food are still very much worth the day.
