Planning Stories for the Red Centre

Uluru rewards a little planning. These stories are the ones we share most often with travellers heading to the Red Centre — how many days to give it, how to shape a single perfect day, and how to visit Uluru and Kata Tjuta with genuine respect for the Anangu Traditional Owners. Everything here is grounded in walking the Country, not climbing it. Start with a story below, then dive into the travel guide.

Uluru Blog — FAQ

What’s in the Uluru travel blog?

Practical, respectful planning stories for Uluru and the Red Centre — how many days you need, a perfect day at Uluru, a two-day plan, the Red Centre highlights and how to visit with respect for Anangu culture.

Can you still climb Uluru?

No. Out of respect for the Anangu Traditional Owners, for whom Uluru is sacred, the climb was permanently closed in October 2019. Visitors experience Uluru on foot at the base and from the viewing areas — which is far more rewarding. See respecting Uluru.

How many days should I spend at Uluru?

Most people want at least two days — one for Uluru itself and one for Kata Tjuta, adding a third for Kings Canyon. See how many days at Uluru.

Where do I start planning?

Begin with the Uluru travel guide for getting there, the best time to visit and where to stay in Yulara, then browse the things to do and our tours.
