Uluru Base Walk Tour

Nothing prepares you for the scale of Uluru until you walk it. On this tour we guide you around the base — the full ~10 km flat loop, or the shorter Mala and Kuniya walks — past quiet waterholes, ancient rock art and the great walls that shift colour through the day. We handle the transfers and the park pass, and share the Tjukurpa (law and stories) that give the rock its meaning. Family-owned since 1974, quoted per enquiry.

Uluru Base Walk Tour — FAQ

What does an Uluru base walk tour include?

A guided walk around the base of Uluru — the full ~10 km flat loop, or the shorter Mala and Kuniya sections — past waterholes, rock art and the rock’s changing faces, with transfers and park entry handled. Tailored and quoted per enquiry — get in touch.

Can you climb Uluru?

No. Out of respect for the Anangu Traditional Owners, for whom Uluru is deeply sacred, the climb was permanently closed in October 2019. Walking the base is the finest way to experience the rock — up close, and on Anangu terms.

How long is the Uluru base walk?

The full loop is about 10 km on flat ground and takes roughly three to four hours at an easy pace. Shorter options like the Mala and Kuniya walks suit those with less time. We tailor the distance to your group.

When is the best time to do it?

Early morning, before the heat — desert days get hot, so we start early and carry plenty of water. Cooler months are more comfortable; see the best time to visit.

Are there photography restrictions?

Yes — some sacred sites along the base have signposted photography restrictions, which we respect and help you follow. Read our respecting Uluru guide.
