Gold Coast Departures

Hinterland Wine Country, 45 Minutes From The Beach

The Gold Coast's hinterland wine regions are one of Queensland's best-kept secrets. Just 45 minutes from Surfers Paradise, the Scenic Rim and Tamborine Mountain plateau are producing distinctive boutique wines — cool-climate varieties grown at elevation in volcanic soils, with a character entirely their own.

Cooee Wine Tours has been running wine tours across Queensland for more than 30 years. Our relationships with the winery owners and winemakers are genuine — many of our guests get access to barrel tastings, winemaker introductions and behind-the-scenes cellar visits that simply aren't available to walk-in visitors. Our small groups (maximum 11 guests) mean you experience each cellar door as a guest, not a tourist.

The hinterland is a two-hour world away from the Gold Coast's beaches — 525-metre elevation, cool mountain air, volcanic soils, and an atmosphere of unhurried hospitality that makes each cellar door feel like a private privilege rather than a scheduled stop.
