Freycinet National Park sits on Tasmania's East Coast, around a three-hour drive from Hobart, centred on the pink-granite peaks known as the Hazards and the postcard curve of Wineglass Bay. It's consistently rated among the world's best beaches, and the lookout walk above it is one of Tasmania's most popular short hikes for good reason.
The park is also home to some genuinely excellent longer walks, sea kayaking, and Coles Bay — the small township that serves as the main base for visiting.
What to See & Do
Wineglass Bay Lookout
A moderately steep but short walk to the saddle between the Hazards, with the classic postcard view over the bay — Freycinet's most popular short walk.
Wineglass Bay – Hazards Beach Circuit
A longer loop that continues down to the beach itself and back around the peninsula — a full day for those who want more than the lookout.
Sea Kayaking
Guided kayak tours explore the coastline and inlets around Coles Bay and the Hazards from the water.
Friendly Beaches
A quieter, longer stretch of coast just north of the main park entrance — good for a walk without the Wineglass Bay crowds.
