Six pillars that define what sets our athletic tour programs apart from standard sports travel.
Exclusive access to Olympic-standard athletics tracks, AIS facilities, Commonwealth Games venues, and world-class stadiums used by Australia's top athletes.
Training sessions led by qualified Australian athletics coaches, tailored to your group's age, level, and specific event disciplines — sprints, hurdles, distance, field events.
Supplement track training with breathtaking outdoor runs — Gold Coast beach paths, Canberra lake circuits, Sydney harbour trails, and Melbourne bay-side routes.
No cookie-cutter packages. Every program is designed from scratch around your group's objectives, schedule, age range, competitive level, and budget.
Access to local club meets, time trials at premier venues, and spectator attendance at events on the Australian Athletics Summer Series including the Sydney Track Classic.
Complement intense training with wildlife encounters, beach visits, cultural tours, and the unforgettable experiences that make Australia a once-in-a-lifetime destination.
Our athletics tours are built around four of Australia's most prestigious and technically outstanding sports precincts — each offering a completely different training environment.
The Gold Coast Performance Centre at Runaway Bay served as an official training venue for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and has recently undergone a $5 million government upgrade. It now features a new world-class Polytan athletics track alongside an international-standard hockey pitch, 50-metre outdoor pool, gymnasium, and a range of sports science support services.
The AIS is Australia's premier elite sports precinct — a 65-hectare campus in Canberra where generations of Olympic and Commonwealth Games champions have trained. The AIS welcomes school and sports groups for guided tours, Sportex interactive sessions, athlete Q&A talks, hands-on training sessions with elite coaches, and performance science demonstrations.
The Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre in Nathan, Brisbane, is the state's elite athletics training hub — home to the Queensland Academy of Sport and featuring two Rekortan international-standard running tracks within a 48,500-seat stadium complex. QSAC hosts multiple editions of the Australian Athletics Championships and regular elite competition, giving visiting groups the opportunity to train where Australia's best compete.
Sydney Olympic Park is Australia's most historically resonant sports precinct — the site of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, now a thriving athletics hub hosting the Sydney Track Classic (World Athletics Continental Tour Gold) and the Australian Athletics Championships. The precinct offers iconic stadium access, scenic harbour-side running routes, and the full historical weight of one of the world's most celebrated Olympics.
The 2026 Australian Athletics Summer Series runs January to April, including the Perth Track Classic, Sydney Track Classic (World Athletics Continental Tour Gold), Adelaide Invitational, Australian Athletics Championships (Sydney, April 9–12), and Australian Junior & U20 Championships (Brisbane, April 15–20). We can align your tour dates with relevant events — contact us to discuss.

"The Gold Coast athletics camp was the highlight of our school year. World-class facilities, coaching that genuinely challenged our best athletes, and the right balance of training and adventure. Six of our students set personal bests on the last-day time trials. Absolutely transformative."
"Seeing the AIS in person changed my athletes' perspective on what's possible. The Sportex activities, the athlete Q&A, the training session on the actual AIS fields — by the time we left Canberra every single kid was talking about what they wanted to achieve next season. Incredible."
"We combined the QSAC training camp with three days in Brisbane and two nights on the Gold Coast. Cooee Tours handled everything seamlessly — venues, coaches, meals, activities. Our university athletics squad came back fitter, more motivated, and with memories they'll carry for a lifetime."
Common questions about our athletics tour programs and logistics.
All levels are accommodated — from recreational runners and school-age beginners through to competitive club athletes and representative teams. Coaching sessions, training intensity, venue selection, and event disciplines are all tailored to match your group's experience and performance objectives. We assess your group's profile during the planning process and design accordingly.
Our athletics tours include access to the Gold Coast Performance Centre (Runaway Bay — World Athletics Class 2 Certified, 2018 Commonwealth Games training venue), the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra (65-hectare elite precinct, Olympian tours and Sportex), QSAC in Brisbane (two international-standard Rekortan tracks, home of QLD Academy of Sport), and Sydney Olympic Park (Sydney 2000 Olympic precinct, host of Sydney Track Classic). Custom itineraries can combine multiple venues.
Programs range from 3-day intensive training camps (ideal for regional school groups on a tight schedule) to 10-day comprehensive multi-city tours combining multiple venues, coaching sessions, competition events, and adventure activities. Day visits and AIS Sportex-only programs are also available. All durations are fully customisable — contact us with your available dates and we'll design a program that maximises your time.
Yes — we design age-appropriate programs for primary school groups from Year 4 upward. For younger groups, the focus shifts from performance coaching to engagement, fun competition, and inspiring venue experiences like the AIS Sportex interactive exhibit. The AIS Sportex is particularly popular with primary-age groups, offering hands-on sports science activities including reaction timers, ball-skills testers, and interactive Olympic exhibits.
Yes. We can organise friendly inter-group competition meets, time trials with electronic timing at premier venues, and (subject to the athletics calendar) spectator or participant tickets to events on the Australian Athletics Summer Series — including the Sydney Track Classic (World Athletics Continental Tour Gold), Perth Track Classic, and the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney (9–12 April 2026). Contact us with your preferred dates and we'll advise what events align.
Australia's climate allows excellent year-round training. Spring (September–November) and autumn (March–May) offer the most comfortable temperatures for outdoor training across most states. Queensland destinations including the Gold Coast and QSAC are excellent year-round, with winter (June–August) being particularly comfortable. The Australian Athletics Summer Series calendar (January–April) offers the best opportunities to combine training with live elite competition attendance.
We can arrange physiotherapy sessions, sports massage, contrast immersion recovery sessions, and introductions to local sports medicine professionals at most of our venues. The AIS and Gold Coast Performance Centre both have established sports medicine infrastructure. Please advise us of any specific requirements during the planning process and we'll incorporate appropriate recovery and medical support into your itinerary.
