The Pacific Tours and Tailored Itineraries

Ways to travel it, and how we put an itinerary together.

The Pacific is Australia's closest overseas holiday, and the shortest flights of any international destination we handle. These are the ways we put a Pacific trip together.

Ways to travel it

Fiji

Mainland resorts, the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, and some of the easiest family travel anywhere.

  • 4–6 hours from the east coast
  • Resort or island hopping
  • Excellent for families
  • Dry season May–October

Vanuatu and New Caledonia

Volcanoes, diving and a French-Melanesian mix a short flight from Brisbane.

  • Around 3 hours from Brisbane
  • Diving and volcano treks
  • French food in Nouméa
  • Shoulder-season value

Samoa, Tonga and the Cooks

Quieter, more traditional and less developed than Fiji — for travellers who want fewer resorts.

  • Whale season Jul–Oct
  • Village stays
  • Slower pace
  • Fewer direct flights

Norfolk Island

Convict history, cliffs and pine forests, with no passport needed for Australians.

  • Domestic flight for Australians
  • World Heritage convict sites
  • Walking and birdlife
  • Good short break

Cyclone season across most of the Pacific runs November to April. Travel insurance that covers weather disruption matters more here than almost anywhere else we book.

How we plan a Pacific trip

Shortest flights we book. Fiji is four to six hours from the east coast, Vanuatu and New Caledonia around three from Brisbane. That makes the Pacific the one region where a five-night trip genuinely works.

Cyclone season is a real planning input. November to April across most of the region. We book weather-flexible where we can and insist on insurance that covers weather disruption, which matters more here than anywhere else we send people.

Transfers are timed to flights, not to you. Island catamarans and light aircraft run to fixed schedules. A late international arrival can cost you a night on the mainland, so we sequence arrivals deliberately.

Village protocol. In Samoa, Vanuatu and parts of Fiji, land and beaches are customary property. We arrange visits properly rather than turning up.

Planning notes

Match the island group to the trip. Fiji's Mamanucas are close and easy; the Yasawas are further, quieter and more scenic. Vanuatu is for the volcano and the wreck diving. Samoa and the Cooks are for travellers who want village culture over resorts.

Transfers are the hidden cost. Island catamarans and light aircraft run to fixed schedules timed to international arrivals. A late flight can cost you a night on the mainland, so we sequence arrivals deliberately rather than optimistically.

Insurance that covers weather. Cyclone season runs November to April across most of the region and disruption is a genuine possibility rather than a theoretical one.
