What's now Minnippi Parklands & Golf was the Cannon Hill landfill until 1977. Closed, capped, and
slowly remediated, the site quietly waited for thirty years. Brisbane City Council and developer BMD
signed the partnership in 2014, the front nine holes were shaped, then the back nine, then 75,000
native trees were planted out, and in September 2023 Brisbane finally opened its first new
public golf course in over seven decades. Cooee Cafe & Restaurant joined the site five months later.
