Sunshine Coast
Paradise Tour
Beaches, rainforest, mountain lookouts, and hinterland villages — the best of both worlds in one unforgettable day. Glass House Mountains volcanic peaks, Mary Cairncross subtropical rainforest, Maleny and Montville artisan villages, then afternoon at Noosa Main Beach. Door-to-door pickup from Brisbane OR Sunshine Coast.
Most Sunshine Coast tours ask you to choose: beach day or hinterland day? The Paradise Tour says both. Starting from Brisbane or your Sunshine Coast accommodation, this full-day guided tour follows a smart loop that begins in the volcanic landscape of the Glass House Mountains, climbs into the cool subtropical rainforest at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, meanders through the artisan villages of Maleny and Montville, then winds down to the coast for an afternoon at Noosa's Main Beach and Hastings Street.
It's the ideal introduction if you only have one day on the Sunshine Coast — you'll see hinterland panoramas, subtropical rainforest gifted to the public by the Thynne sisters in 1941, charming village streets where dairy has been a way of life since 1904, and one of Australia's most beautiful beaches, all at a relaxed pace with a knowledgeable local guide.
The dual pickup means this works equally well for Brisbane-based travellers (10–11hr door-to-door) and those staying on the Sunshine Coast (8.5–9hr). Beach towels are included, so all you need to bring is swimwear and curiosity.

The Four Anchor Stops
Glass House Mountains Lookouts
Your first stop takes in the dramatic volcanic peaks that Captain Cook named on 17 May 1770, comparing them to the glass furnaces of his native Yorkshire. There are 11 named peaks formed 26–27 million years ago by trachyte and rhyolite intrusions; Mount Beerwah is the highest at 556m. The lookout platforms offer 180-degree views — on a clear day you can see from Moreton Island to Noosa. This is Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) Country — traditional Custodians who continue to care for the mountains.
Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
A 1.7km flat, well-maintained gravel boardwalk circuit winds through 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest — protected by Deed of Trust since October 1941, when sisters Elizabeth (Bessie), Mabel and Mary Thynne gifted 100 acres to honour their mother Mary Thynne née Cairncross. Look for pademelons, brush turkeys, lace monitors, and the Wonga Vine estimated at 450 years old. The reserve has 391 plant species, 141 bird species, and 68 mammals, reptiles and amphibians. Strangler figs, piccabeen palms, white booyongs and red cedars tower overhead. Visitor Centre (Thynne Natural History Education Centre, opened 2017) adds context. This is Jinibara Country — Traditional Owners had their rights formally asserted by the Native Title Tribunal in 2012. Wheelchair accessible.
Maleny & Montville Villages
Perched along the Blackall Range (named 1874 after Sir Samuel Blackall, QLD Governor 1864–1871), these twin villages are the heart of the hinterland. Maleny (population 3,959, elevation 425m) is the dairy heartland — first butter factory opened 1904, today home to the Cheese Factory, Sweet Eden, and Maple Street's eclectic galleries and bookshops. Montville (population 1,092, elevation 400m, originally called "Razorback" then renamed in 1893 after Montville Connecticut) has art studios, fudge shops, the Clock Shop, and street performers. Your lunch stop is here.
Noosa Main Beach & Hastings Street
The afternoon is yours at Noosa — swim in the calm, patrolled waters of Main Beach (north-facing Laguna Bay, sheltered by the headland, one of Queensland's safest swimming beaches), wander Hastings Street's boutiques and restaurants, or grab a gelato at Massimo's or Noosa Chocolate Factory and watch the world go by. Beach towels provided. It's the perfect ending to a day that's covered mountains, rainforest, villages, and coast.

Yes — it's one of our most popular tours for older travellers. The Mary Cairncross 1.7km boardwalk is flat, well-maintained, and wheelchair-accessible. Maleny and Montville village streets are easy. There's no strenuous hiking. Our coach has comfortable seating, air conditioning, and luggage assistance. The guide sets a relaxed tempo.
Absolutely. Kids love the Mary Cairncross rainforest boardwalk (pademelons, brush turkeys, the ~450-year-old Wonga Vine), the fudge shops in Montville, and beach time at Noosa Main Beach. The variety of stops keeps things interesting for all ages. Pushchairs handle the boardwalk and village footpaths.
A light morning snack and bottled water are included, plus beach towels. Lunch in Montville is at your own expense (budget AUD $20–$45) so you can choose from cafés, bakeries, the famous Poets Cafe, or restaurants with panoramic Blackall Range views. Your guide will recommend the best options based on any dietary needs.
Comfortable walking shoes, swimwear worn under clothes (for Noosa), SPF 50+ sunscreen, broad-brimmed hat, sunglasses, camera, reusable water bottle, and a light jacket for the hinterland (the Blackall Range is typically 5–8°C cooler than the coast, especially in the Mary Cairncross rainforest). Beach towels are included.
Yes. The itinerary allows approximately 2 hours at Noosa, which is enough time for a swim at Main Beach (north-facing, patrolled, sheltered by the headland), a wander along Hastings Street, or both. Beach towels are provided. Mid-October to April you may encounter marine stingers further north — Noosa is generally safe but always swim between the flags.
The hinterland is beautiful in light rain — the Mary Cairncross rainforest is at its most atmospheric. If heavy weather disrupts the day, your guide adjusts the itinerary (indoor galleries, Maleny Cheese Factory tours, extended village time, the Thynne Natural History Education Centre at Mary Cairncross). Severe weather qualifies for a date transfer or refund.
This is the combination tour — both hinterland and coast in one day, ideal for first-time visitors. Our Hinterland and Waterfalls Adventure goes deeper into Maleny, Montville and the Glass House Mountains without the coast. Our Hinterland Waterfalls (Swim) tour focuses on swimming holes. Our Noosa & Coastal Explorer covers the full 5.4km Noosa National Park coastal track without the hinterland. Choose Paradise if you only have one day and want the best of both worlds.
