Getting Around & the Park Shuttle
The visitor-centre shuttle is the key to the park — it links Ronny Creek and the wombats to Dove Lake beneath Cradle Mountain, and is often compulsory in peak season.
The Park Shuttle
Once you reach Cradle Mountain, the shuttle bus is how you get around. It runs from the visitor centre into the park, calling at Ronny Creek — the boardwalk where wombats graze — and ending at Dove Lake, right beneath the jagged peak. In peak season the shuttle is often mandatory, with private cars kept off the Dove Lake road to ease congestion and protect the fragile alpine landscape. Hop on and off between the stops to link the short walks and trailheads.

- Plan to ride the shuttle — in peak season it’s often the only way to Dove Lake
- Check the first and last services so you don’t get caught out
- Hop off at Ronny Creek early for the best chance of grazing wombats
- Walk a section between stops — try the Enchanted Walk
- It’s colder and windier at Dove Lake — carry warm, waterproof layers

Is the Cradle Mountain shuttle mandatory?
