Historic Arrowtown
Just 20 minutes from Queenstown, Arrowtown is a jewel — a preserved 1860s gold-mining village whose tree-lined main street mixes miners' cottages with excellent shops, cafés and restaurants. Scenic Glenorchy
The 45-minute drive to Glenorchy hugs Lake Wakatipu and ranks among New Zealand's most beautiful roads. At the head of the lake, tiny Glenorchy opens onto Mount Aspiring National Park, the Routeburn and Dart Tracks, and the valley of Paradise — a Lord of the Rings filming location (Isengard, Lothlórien and more).
