Four specific commitments to solo guests.
Every Australian tour operator says they "welcome solos." We've made four concrete operational commitments instead — things you can verify against your booking, not marketing language.
Max 16 — never a tour bus
Our small-group tours cap at 16 guests, which means dining tables of 8 max and game-drive vehicles of 6. Small enough that everyone learns everyone's name by Day 2. No anonymous-coach feeling that makes solos invisible.
Skip the supplement if you'd like
Optional: we'll match you with another same-gender solo traveller of similar age and travel style. About 35% of solo guests use the program; nobody who'd rather not has been pressured into it. If we can't match you on a given departure, you pay no supplement.
Periodic supplement-free departures
Every tour has 1-2 departures per year specifically for solo travellers — same trip, no single supplement. Typically shoulder-season (Apr-May or Sep-Oct in Europe; Feb-Mar in SE Asia). Email us for the next no-supplement date on any tour.
Welcome dinner is mandatory
Every tour begins with a welcome group dinner — and we mean every guest joins. Cooee tour leaders deliberately seat solos to break the ice fast, so you've made connections before the first morning's sightseeing. Most solo guests find dinner-mates for the rest of the trip by Day 3.
What the data actually says.
From Cooee's own booking records 2022-2025, across all small-group world tours.
The six tours solos book most.
Curated based on Cooee's own bookings — these are the world tours where solo travellers report the most consistently positive experiences. Solo-specific note included on each card.
"Cooee made it effortless — visa support before departure, local guides everywhere, group dynamics fantastic." — Alex T., solo from Brisbane.
"Solo at 62 — never felt alone for a moment. The group was warm, our local guides were exceptional." — Catherine G., solo from Sydney.
"Was nervous about being the only solo in the group; within two days I'd made travel friends I still catch up with." — Andrea C., solo from Adelaide.
"Booked the midnight-sun departure in June — daylight at 1am in the fjords, wildflowers everywhere." — Caroline W., solo from Adelaide.
"The Fushimi Inari pre-dawn walk was a once-in-a-lifetime moment — empty torii gates at sunrise. Already on the 2028 list." — Peter T., solo from Adelaide.
"Calving season in February — Cooee's driver-guide was the best wildlife-spotter I've ever travelled with. Already booking the gorilla-trek extension." — Margaret R., solo from Melbourne.

Reviews from solo guests.
Six reviews from across the Cooee solo-traveller spectrum — different ages, regions, first-time-overseas to repeat customers.
First international trip on my own at 65 after losing my husband. The Cooee team made the booking process so reassuring, and on Day 1 the welcome dinner included some lovely deliberate seating that meant I had three new friends by the end of dessert. Came home with travel companions, not just memories.
Was nervous about being the only solo in the group on Turkey/Jordan; within two days I'd made travel friends I still catch up with. Cooee's ATAS accreditation made booking feel safe, and the room-share match was lovely.
Solo at 35, slightly nervous about Asia for the first time. Cooee made it effortless — visa support before departure, local guides everywhere, the group dynamics fantastic. The Mekong floating market was a personal highlight.
Calving season in February — newborn wildebeest one day, a cheetah-and-cubs hunt the next. Cooee's driver-guide was the best wildlife-spotter I've ever travelled with. Already booking the gorilla-trek extension for 2027.
I booked Japan Cherry Blossom three years in advance and it was every bit worth the wait. The Fushimi Inari pre-dawn walk was a once-in-a-lifetime moment — empty torii gates at sunrise. Already on the 2028 list.
Booked the midnight-sun Iceland departure in June — completely different but equally spectacular. Daylight at 1am in the fjords, wildflowers everywhere, and the long days meant we had time for everything.
