Rise early for the Cape Byron lighthouse loop — a 3.7-kilometre trail through rainforest and along cliff edges to Australia's most easterly point at first light. Dolphins are regularly spotted from the platforms, and between June and November humpback whales breach offshore. After breakfast, cross the QLD border and arrive Gold Coast for the afternoon.
