The 7-Day Express runs Sydney to Sunshine Coast (north-bound from Sydney) and focuses on the southern coastal corridor — surf beaches, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. It does NOT include the Great Barrier Reef or the Whitsundays. The 14-Day Classic runs Cairns to Sydney (south-bound from the tropics) and covers the full East Coast including the Great Barrier Reef snorkel day, Whitsundays sailing and K'gari (Fraser Island) 4WD adventure, in addition to all the southern destinations. Most international travellers choose the 14-Day Classic as their first Australian tour.

The Great Barrier Reef is off the coast of Cairns in Far North Queensland — over 1,700km north of Sydney. Realistically reaching it requires either flying to Cairns (adding two travel days) or driving north over multiple days. The 7-Day Express keeps the focus on the southern East Coast where the destinations are tightly clustered, delivering a complete experience in seven days. If the reef is on your bucket list, the 14-Day Classic or 21-Day Ultimate is the right choice.

Yes. Cooee allows upgrades from 7-Day Express to 14-Day Classic or 21-Day Ultimate, and from 14-Day Classic to 21-Day Ultimate, subject to availability on the longer departure dates. The price difference is the standard pricing difference, with no admin fees provided the upgrade happens more than 21 days before original departure. After 21 days, standard cancellation policy applies to the original booking.

All three Cooee East Coast tours follow the same curator + local-partner model: Cooee is the ATAS-accredited curator and your single booking and customer-service contact; day-to-day delivery in each region is by Cooee's vetted local partner operators; Brisbane segments are delivered directly by Cooee from our home base. The 7-Day Express uses 4 partner regions; the 14-Day Classic uses 10; the 21-Day Ultimate uses 11. Partner standards are identical across all three tours.

Cooee provides personalised pricing on enquiry rather than publishing fixed "from" prices, because tour cost varies meaningfully by departure date (peak vs shoulder season), accommodation tier (hostel-base, mid-range hotel, premium eco-lodge), group size and any custom modifications. As a general guide, the 14-Day Classic costs roughly twice the 7-Day Express, and the 21-Day Ultimate costs roughly 1.4-1.5x the 14-Day Classic. All three tours operate year-round but each season has trade-offs. April-June and September-November (Australian autumn and spring) are generally optimal: warm but not humid, reef visibility good, smaller crowds, fair weather across all climate zones. December-February (Australian summer) is hot and wet in the tropics with potential cyclone disruption to reef/Whitsundays segments, but ideal in the southern temperate regions. June-November is whale-migration season on the East Coast (humpback whales visible from Byron, K'gari and Port Stephens). Hunter Valley wine country is appealing year-round but particularly atmospheric in autumn (April-May vintage).

Yes. Approximately half of Cooee multi-day guests travel solo, and the longer tours (14-Day and 21-Day) tend to attract more dedicated solo travellers. We can pair you with a same-gender roommate in twin-share accommodation at no additional cost, or you can book a single supplement for a private room throughout. The 21-day duration is particularly conducive to lasting friendships — many solo travellers stay in touch with their tour group for years afterward.

Yes, all three tours can be customised. Common customisations include adding diving certification in Cairns, extending the Whitsundays sail to overnight, adding Hunter Valley balloon flight or Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, upgrading accommodation tiers across the route, extending nights in a favourite stop (commonly Byron Bay or the Whitsundays), or combining segments from different tour lengths.
