Every Cooee trip is built from two decisions: how you want to travel, and what the trip is really about. This page explains both, so you can tell a Brisbane specialist exactly what you're after.
Most travellers arrive knowing where they want to go and not much else. These three answers are all a specialist needs to point you at the right style.
A couple, a family across three generations, a solo traveller, a golf club, a whole coach. Party size and the age spread do more to shape a trip than the destination does — they set the pace, the vehicle, the room configuration and often the season.
Some people want a finished itinerary with dates already set and someone else worrying about the logistics. Others want to name the dates, the pace and every stop. Both are normal here, and neither costs more in principle — tailoring is standard at Cooee, not a luxury upcharge.
Sometimes the answer is simply "Italy". Often there's a thread underneath — cellar doors, championship courses, coffee culture, wildlife, markets, water. Naming it early changes which operators we book and which doors open for you.

Best for first visits, solo travellers, anyone who wants it handled
Set departure dates, a planned itinerary and a specialist escort from start to finish. You travel with a group of like-minded people, and everything — transport, accommodation, entries, guiding — is arranged before you go. It's the most straightforward way to see a region well without doing the planning yourself.
Best for repeat travellers and anyone with a specific idea
Start with one of our itineraries and change it, or start with a blank page. You choose the dates, the pace, the standard of accommodation and what stays in. A Brisbane specialist designs it, books it and stays your contact for the trip. Bespoke design is the default here — it isn't a premium tier.
Best for couples, small groups of friends, milestone trips
Exclusive use: your party only, your own guide and vehicle, departing on a day that suits you. Nobody else joins. The itinerary can run to a plan or shift on the morning if the weather turns or you'd rather stay another hour somewhere. Popular for anniversaries and for travellers who simply don't want to share.
Best for travellers who care most about where they sleep and who guides them
The same care applied at a higher standard: leading lodges and hotels, private guiding, premium seating and transfers, and access arrangements that take time to secure — a cellar door opened before public hours, a curator's walk-through, a lodge that only takes a handful of guests. Fewer moving parts, more time in each place.
Best for school holidays, grandparents travelling with grandchildren
Built around a mixed age range rather than in spite of it: a pace that suits both a seven-year-old and an eighty-year-old, room configurations that actually work for your family, and activities chosen so nobody spends the day waiting. We'll ask for everyone's ages up front — it genuinely changes the plan.
Best for travelling alone without being alone
A large share of our guests travel on their own. On a small-group departure you keep your independence but always have company at dinner and a specialist who knows your name. The two lists on this page multiply rather than compete. A style says how you travel; a specialty says what the trip is about. In practice almost every itinerary we design is a pairing:

A small-group escorted departure. The route is planned, the logistics are handled, and a specialist travels with you — which means you spend your attention on the place rather than on the arrangements. Many first-time travellers move to custom or private trips on their second or third journey with us.
Not as a rule. Tailoring is standard at Cooee rather than a premium tier, so a custom itinerary is priced on what's actually in it. A custom trip can come in above or below a set departure depending on season, standard of accommodation and party size. Your specialist will quote both if it helps you compare.
Private describes who is on the trip: your party only, with your own guide and vehicle. Custom describes who designed it: an itinerary built to your brief rather than taken off a page. Most private trips are also custom, but you can book a private departure of an existing itinerary without changing a thing.
Yes, and many guests do. Small-group departures suit solo travellers well — you keep your independence while having company when you want it. Twin-share and single-room options are available on most trips; ask your specialist what the single-room arrangement is on the departure you're considering.
It depends on the tour. Group size is set by what the itinerary can accommodate — intimate cellar doors and small lodges genuinely cannot host a crowd, so those trips carry tighter limits. Each tour page states its own limits, and private custom trips run at whatever size your party is.
Yes — that's how most of our itineraries are designed. Choose the style that suits who's travelling, then name the specialty that gives the trip its subject. Golf, coffee, shopping, wine, cruising and nature trips can all be run as small-group, custom, private, luxury or family journeys.
