Cambodia Tours and Itineraries

Six shapes built outward from three nights at Angkor — the guides, the drivers, the flights and the Mekong boats on one booking.

Cambodia is Angkor first and the rest of the country in the days that remain, and most trips we build here are the add-on to Thailand or Vietnam. These are the six shapes we start from.

How a Cambodia itinerary is built

Cambodia is Angkor first and the itinerary is built outward from it: three nights minimum in Siem Reap with a licensed guide and the three-day pass, the sunrise on the first morning and the outer temples on the third, then the rest of the country in the days that remain. Phnom Penh gets two nights and its history gets a morning with a guide and an empty afternoon after; Battambang sits between the two cities for the party with a week; the coast is the finish, cheap and basic and good. The country joins its neighbours without strain — an hour by air from Bangkok or Saigon, or the Mekong boat from the Vietnamese Delta — and most Cambodian trips we build are the add-on to a Thai or Vietnamese one. A car and driver covers the roads; the guide is the difference at Angkor. The Cambodia travel guide has the practical layer.

When to go

November to March is the dry, cooler season and the time to go; October and April are the shoulders. April and May are the hottest months, with 40°C at Angkor by ten. May to September is the wet season: green, humid, afternoon storms, the Tonle Sap high enough for the Battambang boat, and the temples with a fraction of the visitors and half the hotel rates — a reasonable choice for the temples and not for the coast. Khmer New Year in mid-April and the Water Festival in November are the holidays to know. The best time to visit Asia page has the calendar.

What every itinerary includes

Pricing

Quoted per departure in Australian dollars with everything above included. We do not publish from-prices for international itineraries because the season and the accommodation tier move the total by thousands; the country guide and the South-East Asia guide set out the underlying daily numbers.

How to book

Choose a shape above or tell us what you want. Send your dates, departure city and the party through the enquiry form or on 0409 661 342; we check the season against the route, confirm the beds that matter, and send an itinerary and a quote within two working days. A deposit holds it under our booking conditions; travel insurance is required.
