Eumundi Markets is the kind of place where two hours dissolves into four. Open since 1979, it operates under a strict "make it, bake it, grow it, sew it" policy — every single item must be made or grown by the person selling it. The result is a sprawling, tree-shaded labyrinth of more than 600 stalls covering handmade jewellery, ceramics, woodwork, fresh tropical produce, gourmet food, skincare, art, and live music. Australia's largest, and arguably most genuine, artisan market.
Overview
Eumundi sits in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, around 20 minutes inland from Noosa and approximately 90 minutes by road from Brisbane CBD via the Bruce Highway. It's set on Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) Country, in a heritage village whose nineteenth-century timber-getter and dairy farming roots are still visible in the surviving Federation-era buildings on the high street.
The market itself is actually a collection of precincts — the Original Eumundi Markets, Eumundi Square, Parkside Markets, the Terraces, and the Eumundi Pavilion. All operate together on Wednesday and Saturday, with Eumundi Square and Parkside also opening on Fridays at a smaller scale. The on-site Munimba-ja Arts Centre (the name means "welcome place" in the local Gubbi Gubbi language) showcases work by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, and the Eumundi Museum tells the village's story.
The "make it yourself" rule keeps the market authentic. It's what distinguishes Eumundi from generic souvenir and resale markets and is why Eumundi has been named the largest artisan market in the Southern Hemisphere by Tourism & Events Queensland. Saturday is the bigger day — bigger crowds, more stalls, more live music. Wednesday is its slightly mellower cousin, with around 300 stalls and a more relaxed pace.

What to Buy & Try
Fresh Produce & Gourmet Food
Seasonal tropical fruit, artisan sourdough, Sunshine Coast honey, macadamia products, handmade pasta, hot sauces, ginger beer, specialty coffee from local roasters, and baked goods — all locally made or grown.
Handmade Goods & Art
Jewellery, ceramics, pottery, woodwork, textiles, leather goods, natural skincare, candles, art prints, and clothing — every item handmade by the stallholder. Nothing imported, nothing resold.
The "make it, bake it, grow it, sew it" policy is what makes Eumundi special — every single item is produced by the person selling it. You won't find that at any generic market.
Tips for Your Visit
Arrive early. Saturday parking fills fast and the best produce stalls (sourdough, fresh figs, ginger beer, smoked fish) sell out by mid-morning. Aim to be on-site before 9:00am for the full experience. Wednesday is smaller and more relaxed — arrive by 9:30am.
Bring cash. Most stallholders accept card now, but some smaller producers and food vans remain cash-only. There's an ATM on site but Saturday queues can be long.
Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be walking on grass and compacted gravel for an hour or more. The market is shaded by mature fig trees, but sunscreen and a hat are still recommended for Queensland — particularly in summer.
Eat before you shop. Start with coffee and a pastry from one of the food stalls near the entrance — there are several excellent local coffee roasters and bakeries. Then browse with energy. The market has Japanese street food, Dutch pancakes, wood-fired pizza, fresh juices, and dietary-aware options including vegan and gluten-free.
Bring a reusable bag. Useful for carrying produce and purchases. Some stallholders provide bags, but not all — and Eumundi prides itself on environmental sustainability.
Getting There
Eumundi is about 20 minutes inland from Noosa, 30 minutes from Maroochydore, and roughly 90 minutes from Brisbane CBD via the Bruce Highway.
On a guided day trip: Our Noosa Day Trip from Brisbane includes an Eumundi Markets stop on Wednesday and Saturday departures. Your guide drops you at the markets, gives you 1.5–2 hours of free time, then continues to Noosa Heads, Hastings Street, and the Noosa River. No driving, no parking stress, no map-wrangling.
Self-driving: Follow signs from the Bruce Highway (exit at Eumundi). Free parking is available in several lots around the market grounds — but Saturday lots fill by 9:30am. Street parking extends along surrounding roads on busy days. The local primary school operates a paid lot (~$8) on Saturdays.
Public transport: Sunbus route 631 runs from Noosa to Eumundi, though frequency is limited and not always aligned with market hours. Most visitors drive or join a guided day tour.

The Eumundi Markets stop was a highlight of our whole holiday — we spent over two hours there and could have stayed longer. The guide knew exactly which stalls to recommend for sourdough, honey, and local coffee.
Kate & David — Sydney, NSW
I've been to markets all over the world and Eumundi is genuinely special. The 'make it yourself' policy means everything is authentic. We came home with bags of honey, fudge, and handmade ceramics.

Both Wednesday and Saturday markets open at 7:30am and close at 2:00pm. Arrive before 9:30am on Saturday to find parking comfortably and to catch the best produce before it sells out.

Yes. Market purchases are welcome on the coach — produce, honey, fudge, ceramics, jewellery, and packaged goods all travel well. Your guide can advise on what's practical for the journey back to Brisbane.
Most of the market sits on flat ground under shade trees, with paths of grass and compacted gravel. This is navigable for most wheelchairs and prams, though some areas can be uneven, particularly after rain.
Every stallholder at the Original Eumundi Markets must make, bake, grow, or sew their own goods. No imports, no resale. The rule has been in place since 1979 and is what distinguishes Eumundi from generic souvenir markets — every item is genuinely produced by the person selling it.
