4 tour formats active From $165 pp day tours Max 24 hard cap

This is the complete Scenic Rim tour catalogue from Cooee Tours — four active small-group tour formats from Brisbane (one of which also runs from the Gold Coast), plus two further day tours in active development. The Scenic Rim is one of southeast Queensland’s most accessible and most rewarding day-trip destinations — mountain hinterland, heritage country towns, ten cellar doors across four wine sub-areas, the volcanic Moogerah Peaks, and the World Heritage-listed Lamington and Mt Barney national parks — all within 1 to 1.75 hours of Brisbane CBD.

The four active tours cover the region from four angles: heritage and country towns (the Fassifern Heritage Loop), animals and families (the Summer Land Camels Day), wine and cellar doors (the Scenic Rim Wine Tour), and a full weekend across multiple sub-regions (the 3-day Scenic Rim Weekend). Each format suits a different traveller; the Fassifern Heritage Loop pairs naturally as Day 1 of the 3-day Weekend if you want to extend a strong day into a strong long weekend. For travellers who prefer to self-drive, the Scenic Rim transport guide covers the three main routes from Brisbane, parking, wildlife caution, and the honesty-box farm-stall etiquette along the Ipswich-Boonah Road.

The Scenic Rim region we travel across belongs to several First Nations Peoples — the Ugarapul (Yugarapul) people of the broader Yuggera language family in the Fassifern Valley, the Wangerriburra and broader Yugambeh people of the Tamborine/Mount Tamborine area, and the Yugambeh and connected groups of the Lamington and Mt Barney country. Cooee Tours acknowledges these Traditional Custodians and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Prefer to self-drive at your own pace

The Scenic Rim transport guide covers the three main routes from Brisbane (Fassifern via Ipswich, Tamborine via M1, Lamington via Canungra), parking and access notes, hire car options, wildlife caution, storm-season warnings, and the honesty-box farm-stall etiquette. 2WD-friendly for all main destinations.

Combining tour formats: The Fassifern Heritage Loop and the 3-day Weekend share the Day 1 itinerary — if you book the 3-day Weekend you’re effectively getting the Heritage Loop plus two additional days. The Wine Tour and Heritage Loop overlap at Kooroomba Vineyards (Mount Alford lunch venue on the Heritage Loop) but cover otherwise different ground. The Summer Land Camels Day and Heritage Loop both visit Summer Land Camels but with different time commitments — the Camels Day spends 2-3 hours there, the Heritage Loop spends 60-90 minutes.

Honest answers before you book

Questions our Scenic Rim specialists answer most often about choosing between tour formats.

How many Scenic Rim tour options are there?

We currently run four Scenic Rim tours from Brisbane: the Fassifern Valley Heritage Loop (10-hour day, AUD $229 pp), the Summer Land Camels Day (8.5-hour family-friendly day, AUD $219 pp), the Scenic Rim Wine Tour (full-day cellar door tour, from AUD $165 pp), and the 3-day Scenic Rim Weekend (AUD $899 pp twin-share, 3 days / 2 nights). Two further day tours (Moogerah Peaks Day, Boonah & Lake Moogerah Day) are in development.

Which Scenic Rim tour should I book?

If you want heritage, country towns and a sunset finish — the Fassifern Heritage Loop. If you’re travelling with kids 8+ or want camels and dairy tastings — the Summer Land Camels Day. If you want cellar doors and wine — the Scenic Rim Wine Tour. If you want depth across multiple sub-regions — the 3-day Weekend. All four can be combined; the Fassifern Heritage Loop pairs naturally as Day 1 of the 3-day Weekend.

Where do Scenic Rim tours depart from?

Brisbane CBD with hotel pickup is the default for all four tour products. The Scenic Rim Wine Tour also operates from the Gold Coast (45 minutes to one hour to the first cellar doors versus 1h 15m from Brisbane). Other departure points (Sunshine Coast, regional Queensland) can be arranged for private bookings.

What’s included in the price?

All four tours include hotel pickup and drop-off, coach transport in air-conditioned vehicles, a Brisbane-based Cooee-certified guide, all entries to included experiences, and at least lunch. The Summer Land Camels Day includes a camel ride. The Wine Tour includes tasting flights at every cellar door and country lunch. The 3-day Weekend includes heritage Boonah accommodation, all seven meals, and three full days of touring. Detailed inclusions vary by tour — see each tour page.

How big are the groups?

Hard cap of 24 across all tour formats. Most departures run with 14-20 travellers. Private tours can be customised for smaller groups (2-12 typical). Larger group enquiries (school groups, corporate days, wedding parties) handled separately — contact us.

When is the best time to visit the Scenic Rim?

Year-round operation. Strongest weather is May through September (cool, dry, blue-sky days). Late July through August is the Kalbar Sunflower Festival period — the Heritage Loop runs at higher demand. Storm season runs November through March; tours still operate but rural roads can have brief flash-flood risk on summer afternoons. Wildflower season is September-October.

Can I do a Scenic Rim tour self-drive instead?

Yes — all main Scenic Rim destinations are accessible by 2WD sedan or hatchback on sealed roads. See our Scenic Rim transport guide for the three driving routes from Brisbane (Fassifern via Ipswich, Tamborine via M1, Lamington via Canungra), parking, wildlife caution and honesty-box farm-stall etiquette.

How do I book?

Use the enquire form linked from every tour page, or call 0409 661 342 (Brisbane office Mon-Fri 9am-5pm AEST), or email contact@cooeetours.com.au with your preferred tour, dates and number of travellers. A Brisbane-based Cooee specialist replies within one business day with available departure dates and confirmed pricing.

Whose Country are these tours on?

The Scenic Rim region spans several First Nations Peoples. Tours covering the Fassifern Valley (Boonah, Kalbar, Harrisville, Peak Crossing, Mount Alford) operate on Ugarapul (Yugarapul) Country of the Yuggera language family. Tours covering Mt Tamborine, Lamington and Canungra Valley operate on Wangerriburra and broader Yugambeh Country. Tours into Mt Barney National Park operate on connected Yugambeh and neighbouring Country. Cooee Tours acknowledges Traditional Custodians and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

What about accessibility?

Many of our Scenic Rim tour stops are wheelchair accessible, but accessibility varies by tour and venue. The Fassifern town centres (Boonah, Kalbar) are mostly accessible; some heritage building interiors have steps. Summer Land Camels has accessible farm areas. Some cellar doors have stairs or uneven garden terrain. Email contact@cooeetours.com.au with your specific access needs and we’ll match you to the right tour or build a private option.
