Brisbane day tour · Fassifern Valley · Australia’s largest camel dairy
Australia’s largest camel dairy — the focused Brisbane day tour.
A focused full-day tour from Brisbane built around Summer Land Camels at Harrisville — Australia’s largest commercial camel dairy with a 600+ herd. Extended morning at the working farm (farm tour, camel ride included, Camel Milk Co. dairy tasting featuring the world-first camel milk vodka), Harrisville Hotel lunch, and a Kalbar heritage afternoon (Wiss Emporium, Postmaster’s Sweets, the historic Post Office building). Brisbane CBD pickup ~8:30am, return ~5pm. Max 24 travellers, lunch included.
This is the focused Summer Land Camels day — built for travellers who want depth at Australia’s largest commercial camel dairy rather than ticking off four Fassifern stops. The day allocates approximately 2.5 to 3 hours at Summer Land Camels — long enough for the full guided farm tour, the included camel ride, the Camel Milk Co. dairy tasting flight (4 products plus the world-first camel milk vodka), and time at the homestead café without rushing. Lunch is at the heritage Harrisville Hotel (a 5-minute drive from the camel farm), then a relaxed afternoon at Kalbar for the 1876 German heritage main-street walk before the return drive to Brisbane.
The tour is structured at family pace — later 8:30am Brisbane CBD pickup, comfortable air-con coach, the camel ride pitched at all ages (under-5s ride with a parent; over-5s ride independently with a handler), and the Camel Milk Co. cafe offers child-friendly meals if the kids aren’t ready for the Harrisville Hotel lunch. Under-12s receive a 35% discount; under-5s travel free. The pacing suits families who want one extraordinary thing rather than the four-towns-in-a-day intensity of our Fassifern Heritage Loop.
Brisbane-based specialists since 1991. We’ve been running variations of the Summer Land Camels day since the dairy opened in 2014. Our Cooee-certified Scenic Rim guides know the camel-dairying process, the Camel Milk Co. range, the Kalbar heritage stories (the 1876 German Engelsburg founding, the 1916 WWI renaming, the Wiss family legacy), and the Ugarapul Country we’re travelling on. Departures Wed-Sun year-round.

Honest answers before you book
Questions our Scenic Rim specialists answer most often.
What is the Summer Land Camels day tour?
A full-day Brisbane-departing small-group tour focused on Summer Land Camels at Harrisville — Australia’s largest commercial camel dairy. Extended morning at the working camel farm (farm tour, camel ride, dairy tasting including the world-first camel milk vodka), Harrisville Hotel lunch, Kalbar heritage afternoon. Brisbane CBD pickup ~8:30am, return ~5pm. Roughly 8.5 hours total.
How much does the Summer Land Camels day cost?
From AUD $219 per person including Brisbane CBD pickup, coach transport, the Summer Land Camels farm tour, the standard camel ride, the Camel Milk Co. dairy tasting flight (4 products plus camel milk vodka), Harrisville Hotel counter-meal lunch, the Kalbar heritage main-street walking guide, and all gratuities. Per person twin-share basis.
Is the camel ride included?
Yes — unlike our Fassifern Heritage Loop where the camel ride is an optional add-on, the Summer Land Camels day tour includes the standard 15-minute camel ride as part of the package. The extended camel ride experience (longer ride, group photo) is available as an add-on for $25 per person, booked at the time of tour booking.
How long do we spend at Summer Land Camels?
Approximately 2.5 to 3 hours including the farm tour, camel ride, and dairy tasting. This is longer than the Fassifern Heritage Loop (which spends about 1.5 hours at Summer Land Camels) and is the right choice for travellers who specifically want depth at the camel farm rather than covering more Fassifern stops.
What if I’m not interested in the camel ride?
The camel ride is optional — travellers can skip it and enjoy a longer farm tour, the Camel Milk Co. café, the dairy shop browsing, or simply more time at the homestead. The ride takes about 15 minutes; travellers who skip it can use that time for the dairy tasting flight or relaxed cafe time.
How does this differ from the Fassifern Heritage Loop?
The Summer Land Camels day tour is focused (one star attraction with depth) while the Fassifern Heritage Loop is broader (four heritage towns plus Carr’s Lookout in one day). Summer Land Camels day is shorter (8.5 hours versus 10 hours), starts later (8:30am versus 6:30am), spends more time at the camel farm, and includes the camel ride as standard. The Heritage Loop covers more Fassifern country and includes the dawn-light Peak Crossing arrival and the Carr’s Lookout sunset. Choose based on whether you want depth or breadth.
Is it family-friendly?
Strongly — this is often our most-booked family tour. Kids love the camels (the farm tour is pitched at family attention spans, the camel ride is the headline experience, and the Camel Milk Co. gelato is a hit), the Harrisville Hotel does kid-friendly counter meals, and Kalbar’s Postmaster’s Sweets is the perfect afternoon treat stop. Under-12s receive a 35% discount; under-5s travel free (no seat allocated).
When does the tour run?
Year-round, with the strongest seasons being late winter (July-August), autumn (March-May), and the school holidays when families travel. Summer (December-February) bookings shift earlier (8am pickup) to ensure the camel ride happens before the heat builds. Departures are typically Wednesday through Sunday.
Can I add other Scenic Rim stops?
The standard tour includes Summer Land Camels (morning) and Kalbar (afternoon). For travellers who want to add Boonah or Carr’s Lookout, our Fassifern Heritage Loop covers the broader circuit. We can also customise private departures (minimum 6 travellers) to include specific stops on request.
Whose Country does the tour visit?
Harrisville and Kalbar both sit on Ugarapul (Yugarapul) Country, part of the broader Yuggera language family. Cooee Tours acknowledges the Ugarapul as the Traditional Custodians of the Fassifern Valley and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
