Overview

When One Region Deserves a Whole Weekend

A day tour is perfect for the cellar doors close to Brisbane. But some of the best wine country in South East Queensland sits a few hours out — far enough that the drive home after lunch is a shame, and far better enjoyed with a night among the vines.

That's where a weekend getaway comes in. We design the itinerary, link the cellar doors, sort the long lunches and — crucially — do all the driving, so no one in your group has to be the sober one. Below are three escapes we're asked for most often, each fully tailored to your dates, taste and pace.

Where To Escape

Three Weekend Wine Escapes

The cool-climate classic

Granite Belt & Stanthorpe

About three hours south-west, the Granite Belt is the weekend every Queensland wine lover should do once. Spend two days among high-country cellar doors and the famous Strange Bird alternative varieties, with crisp nights, open fires in winter, and country dining between tastings.

Relaxed & close to home

Scenic Rim & Canungra Valley

When you want a weekend feel without the long drive, the Scenic Rim delivers — boutique cellar doors, paddock-to-plate produce, mountain views and unhurried long lunches. Easy to pair with a country stay or a spa night, and gentle on first-time wine weekenders.

The quiet discovery

South Burnett

Around Kingaroy and Murgon, Queensland's largest wine region by area rewards those who venture out. Standout Verdelho, warm-climate reds, cellar-door cottages and a genuinely rural welcome make the South Burnett a relaxed two-day escape away from the crowds.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

For a classic two-day escape it's hard to beat the Granite Belt around Stanthorpe and Ballandean — cool-climate cellar doors, the Strange Bird alternative varieties, crisp country air and cosy accommodation, about three hours south-west of Brisbane. The South Burnett around Kingaroy and Murgon is a quieter, less-discovered alternative with cellar-door cottages, while the Scenic Rim suits a shorter, more relaxed weekend closer to home.

Overnight wine getaways are arranged as tailored and private trips rather than fixed scheduled departures, so we can build the itinerary, accommodation, cellar doors and pace around your group. They run on our own fleet, which means flexible pickup points and group sizes from a couple up to a full coach. Tell us your dates and we'll put together a quote.

It depends on the itinerary we design with you, but a typical weekend includes door-to-door pickup from Brisbane, all travel between cellar doors, guided tastings, at least one long lunch, and a glass of our own Cooee Wine. We can arrange accommodation and dinner bookings as part of the package, or work in with a stay you've already booked. Bottles you buy are carried safely on board.

For weekends — especially over long weekends, school holidays and the cooler months in the Granite Belt — the best accommodation books out early, so a few weeks' notice is ideal. That said, it's always worth asking: we can often pull together a getaway at shorter notice, particularly for smaller groups.

Very — they're one of our most popular romantic escapes and a lovely way to mark an anniversary or milestone. We can keep it intimate with a private vehicle and a couples' long lunch, or scale up for a group celebration. If romance is the theme, see our Brisbane couples wine experiences.
