Sunshine Coast corporate tours
Conference add-ons, team days, EOFY and Christmas functions — the Blackall Range hinterland or the coastal brewery circuit. Invoiced properly, finishing when we said it would, and honest about which of the two the range drive is worth for.
The short version
Mostly a conference coast, and that shapes the day
A Cooee corporate tour on the Sunshine Coast is a private charter organised to a standard a workplace can sign off on. Hotel or office pick-up, a written itinerary before you commit, a stated finish time, and an invoice rather than someone on the team fronting a credit card.
The corporate market here looks different from Brisbane’s. Brisbane bookings are mostly local teams leaving the office for an afternoon. Sunshine Coast bookings are mostly groups who are already here for something else — a conference in Noosa, a leadership offsite at a hinterland retreat, an incentive trip. That changes the brief: the tour is usually one component of a larger programme, the finish time is often set by a dinner or a session, and the group frequently includes people who have flown in.
It also changes the geography question. Every Sunshine Coast day starts with a choice between the Blackall Range at Maleny and Montville, or the coastal circuit at sea level. For a social group that is about mood. For a corporate group it is about time: the range costs ninety minutes of driving, and on a day with a hard finish that is ninety minutes you cannot spend at the venues.
Our honest position is that the range is worth it for client entertaining and incentive days, where the view and the restaurant are the point. For a team day, an EOFY function or a conference add-on, the coast delivers more in less time and costs less.
What we will ask you first. The finish time, the headcount range, and how many people are not drinking. On this coast the first answer usually settles range versus coast before anything else does.
Three shapes of day
Sample Sunshine Coast corporate tour itineraries
Starting points, not fixed departures. Every element moves to suit the group and the finish time.
Half day
The Conference Add-On
Midday pick-up from the conference venue or hotel, two coastal venues and a long lunch, back by late afternoon. Slots into a programme without eating the whole day.
Full day
The Team Day
Three venues across the range and the coast, with lunch in the middle and room to break into groups. Suits EOFY, Christmas and teams travelling in for it.
Client
Up To Montville
Smaller group, a vineyard restaurant with a view down the escarpment, and a pace that leaves room for conversation. Built for client hosting and incentive rewards.
The Conference Add-On — half-day sample
- 11:45amPick-up
From the conference venue, hotel or a single agreed address. Multiple pick-ups possible if delegates are split across properties.
- 12:15pmLunch
Straight to the table at a coastal brewery with a full kitchen, dietaries already lodged. On a half day the lunch is the anchor, not an afterthought.
- 2:00pmVenue two — distillery or taproom
A structured tasting with real content, so the group leaves having learned something rather than just having drunk something.
- 3:45pmDepart
Short coastal run back.
- 4:30pmDrop-off
Back at the agreed address, at the agreed time, with the evening session or dinner intact.
The Team Day — full-day sample
- 9:00amPick-up
If a briefing is planned, it runs on the bus on the climb while everyone is still sharp.
- 10:00amVenue one — hinterland
The substantive stop. A seated guided tasting on the range with enough room for the whole group, and the escarpment view doing the rest.
- 11:45amVenue two — lunch
Two courses with room to break into tables. Awards or speeches happen here if there are any.
- 2:15pmVenue three — coastal brewery
A deliberate change of register on the way back down. Informal, loud, and built for the part of the team who were never going to enjoy a third tasting.
- 4:00pmDepart for drop-off
Along the coast, with the finish time already accounted for.
- 5:00pmDrop-off
Back at the agreed address.
Times are indicative and move with traffic, group size and venue availability. Final venues and timings are confirmed in writing before your deposit is due.
Where these days go
The Sunshine Coast venues these tours visit
The Blackall Range sits about forty-five minutes above the coastal strip and holds the cellar doors. The breweries and distilleries run from Noosaville in the north to Caloundra in the south. Below is the landscape — not a fixed list of stops.
| Venue | Area | What it does well | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your Mates Brewing Co. | Warana | Largest group capacity on the coast, level access, close to the strip | Big groups, EOFY, Christmas |
| Land & Sea Brewery | Noosaville | Brewery and distillery on one site near the river | Noosa conference add-ons |
| Flame Hill Vineyard | Montville | Working vineyard and restaurant with a long escarpment view | Client entertaining, incentives |
| Brouhaha Brewery | Maleny | Hinterland brewery with a substantial food menu | Team days, lunch anchor |
| Sunshine & Sons Distillery | Forest Glen | Rum and gin distilled on site, seated tasting format | Interactive stop, central location |
| Maleny Cheese | Maleny | Tasting room and cafe — a non-alcohol stop worth stopping for | Groups with several non-drinkers |
| Heads of Noosa Brewing Co. | Noosaville | Lager-focused taproom on Gympie Terrace | Walkable Noosa second stop |
| Moffat Beach Brewing Co. | Caloundra | Beachside brewpub at the southern end | Caloundra-based teams |
| Maleny Mountain Wines | Maleny | Small-batch cellar door, quiet enough for conversation | Small client groups |
| 10 Toes Brewery | Buderim | Small independent brewery between coast and range | Short add-on stop |
Capacity is the real constraint above twenty-five. Montville and Maleny venues are small rural rooms; moving thirty-five people through one takes twenty minutes each way and the lunch service struggles. The coastal taprooms were built for volume. If your headcount is over twenty-five, the coast is not a compromise — it is the better day.
Four different briefs
What kind of corporate day is this?
These four get booked as the same thing and should not be built the same way.
Conference add-ons and partner programmes
The most common brief on this coast, and the one with the tightest constraints. The tour has to fit around sessions, return people for a dinner, and work for a group that did not choose each other. Keep it coastal, keep it to a half day, and build in the buffer — a delegate missing the evening keynote because the range road was slow is a failure the organiser wears.
Team building
The objective is that people who work together talk to each other differently for a day. That argues for movement — three venues, shared tables, deliberate reshuffling between stops. The range-and-coast itinerary does this naturally because the two halves of the day feel completely different, which resets the group in a way three similar venues would not.
Client entertaining and incentives
This is where the range earns its drive time. Fewer venues, better ones, a vineyard restaurant with a view, and enough quiet to hold a conversation. Flame Hill at Montville does what no taproom can. Keep the group small — a client day with twenty-five people is a team day with clients in it — and accept that the day will be long.
Christmas and EOFY functions
Bigger group, wider spread of seniority and interest, and a higher share of people who are not drinking or not naturally social. Build in variety rather than depth — a tasting, a substantial lunch, and a final stop with something for people who have had enough. Coastal, because the venues can hold the numbers, and fix the finish time and hold it.
Tell us which of the four this is when you enquire and the venue shortlist, the pace and the quote all change accordingly. It is more useful than the number of venues you had in mind.
The vehicle
Owned fleet, employed drivers
Cooee Tours sits within the Waggie Group alongside Sunshine Coast Bus Lines, Brisbane Hire Bus and Cooee Coach Charters. Your vehicle is not brokered out — it comes from fleet we operate, with drivers we employ, based on the Coast.
For a corporate booking that answers several procurement questions at once. There is one contracting party. The insurance and accreditation sit with the company you are invoicing. And if a conference programme shifts by an hour on the morning, the person re-scheduling the vehicle works for the same business that took your booking.
Vehicle sizes
- 8–13 guests — minibus, air-conditioned
- 14–24 guests — mid-size coach, overhead storage, PA for briefings
- 25–45 guests — full coach, or two vehicles in convoy on the same route
- Documentation — certificate of currency, public liability and driver authorisation details supplied on request
Logistics
Pick-up, billing and what is included
Standard pick-up zone
The full coastal strip — Noosa Heads, Noosaville and Sunshine Beach through Coolum, Marcoola, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Kawana and Caloundra, plus Buderim, Sippy Downs and Nambour inland.
Extended pick-up
Brisbane and the northern suburbs, Caboolture and the Gympie corridor. Sunshine Coast Airport and Brisbane Airport transfers both work when delegates are flying in.
Multiple properties
Conference groups are often split across several hotels. Two addresses is normally fine at no extra cost; more than that affects route timing and the finish time, and we will tell you honestly whether a single meeting point serves the day better.
Billing
Invoiced, PO accepted, itemised so it can go to finance without a follow-up. Deposit to hold the vehicle, balance on invoice.
What is included
- Exclusive-use vehicle and professional driver for the booked duration
- Pick-up and drop-off at your nominated addresses within the standard zone
- All tastings at the confirmed venues on your itinerary
- A two-course lunch, with dietary requirements collected and lodged in advance
- Written itinerary circulated before final payment, suitable for forwarding to delegates
- All venue bookings, sequencing and timing handled by us
- Insurance and accreditation documentation on request
What is not included
- Additional drinks beyond the included tastings, and anything bought to take away
- Accommodation and any pre- or post-tour meals
- Venue hire where a group requires an exclusive-use function space
- Gratuities, which are never expected
Planning
Getting a Sunshine Coast corporate day right
School holidays are the region-specific trap
The coast fills with families during Queensland school holidays. Transfers slow down, the hinterland restaurants fill, and a schedule that works in March falls apart in late September. If your date is flexible, avoid the holiday periods entirely — and if it is not, tell us early so we build in more buffer than usual.
Book EOFY and Christmas first, plan later
Late June and the first three weeks of December are the two windows where venues fill before we do. Lock the date and let the itinerary follow. Groups that design the perfect day first and then look for a Friday in December generally end up with neither.
Be realistic about the range and a hard finish
Ninety minutes of winding road sits between the coast and Montville. On a day with a genuinely fixed end — a conference dinner, a flight, a session people must be back for — that is the single biggest risk to the schedule. We will either recommend the coast or build a buffer that makes the range work, but we will not quietly hope. Tell us the hard stop at enquiry, not at confirmation.
Collect dietaries properly, once
Hinterland kitchens are small and set menus are common above twenty guests. A dietary requirement submitted seven days out is straightforward; one raised on the bus may not be solvable. Send one form to the whole group and give us the results in one go. Flag severe allergies as early as possible so we can confirm the venue can genuinely accommodate them rather than assume.
The alcohol question, directly
Not everyone wants their drinking observed by their employer, and a work event built entirely around alcohol puts some people in an awkward position. We are not going to pretend this is not a drinking tour. What we will do is make sure there is real non-alcoholic provision at every stop, at least one stop that is not a tasting — Maleny Cheese and the lookouts both work well for this — and a day where someone not drinking still has something to do rather than being visibly the one who is not.
Every venue operates under Queensland’s responsible service of alcohol requirements and their staff make service decisions on their premises. All guests must be 18 or over. Our drivers will not carry a passenger who is unwell or unsafe, and everyone is returned to a nominated address.
One organiser, one point of contact. Conference bookings go wrong when the event manager, the venue and the client are all in the email chain and none of them owns the headcount. Nominate one person, give us their direct number, and we will run everything through them.
Beyond the day
Conferences, offsites and multi-day programmes
Most corporate work we do on this coast is one part of something larger. Noosa and Mooloolaba host a steady conference calendar, and the hinterland retreats take leadership offsites year-round. A tour is frequently the Wednesday afternoon in a three-day programme.
We can run the whole transport picture rather than just the tour: airport transfers from Sunshine Coast or Brisbane, shuttles between the conference venue and accommodation, evening dinner runs, and a partner programme in parallel with the main sessions. Same fleet, same booking, one invoice — which is usually simpler for whoever is coordinating it than three suppliers and three points of failure.
For groups where a drinking day is the wrong call, we can build a produce-and-scenery version instead — the range lookouts, Maleny Cheese, the Glass House Mountains views. Worth asking about for partner programmes.
Comparing options
Charter, venue hire or the resort
A Sunshine Coast corporate day competes with two other ways of spending the budget, and rideshare is not one of them — coverage above the range is thin enough that it is not a real option for a group.
The resort function room
The default for conference groups, and the easiest to invoice. It is also the room the delegates have already been sitting in for two days. The reason a tour works as a programme component is precisely that it gets people out of that building — the value is the change of setting more than the drinks.
A restaurant booking
Cheaper and simpler, and fine for a small client dinner. For a team day it has the same problem as the function room: one room, three hours, and the conversations follow the lines they already follow at work.
A private charter
One agreed per-person cost, one vehicle, one driver, and a day organised before it starts. It also removes the drink-driving question entirely, which on this coast matters more than in the city because there is no rideshare fallback above the range.
The honest caveat: for a group of six or seven, a charter is poor value and a restaurant will serve you better. The economics turn at around eight to ten people.
Questions
Sunshine Coast corporate tour questions
Can you invoice us rather than take a card payment?
Yes. Corporate bookings are invoiced, we accept a purchase order number, and we can put the PO on both the invoice and the confirmation. Standard terms are a deposit to hold the vehicle and the balance on invoice after the tour. If your finance team needs different terms, tell us early and we will work with them rather than around them.
Do you guarantee a finish time?
We build the itinerary to a stated finish time and schedule the driver’s hours around it. The day is designed backwards from when people need to be back, not forwards from when they were collected.
On the Sunshine Coast the range is the variable. A coastal itinerary is tightly controllable; a Maleny or Montville day carries ninety minutes of winding road and needs a real buffer built in. If the finish time is genuinely hard — a flight, a conference dinner — we will usually recommend the coast.
We are running a conference in Noosa. Can this be an add-on?
Yes, and it is the most common corporate booking we take on this coast. A half-day tour slots neatly into a conference programme as an afternoon activity or a partner programme running in parallel with the main sessions.
We can also run the surrounding transport — airport transfers from Sunshine Coast Airport or Brisbane, shuttles between the conference venue and accommodation, and evening dinner runs. Same fleet, same booking, one supplier for whoever is coordinating it.
Is the Sunshine Coast actually a wine region?
Not in the way the Granite Belt is. The Blackall Range has a small number of genuine cellar doors and they are worth visiting, but the region’s real strength is beer and spirits — the brewery and distillery scene between Noosaville, Forest Glen and Caloundra is one of the best in Queensland.
For a corporate group that is usually an advantage. A mixed team rarely all wants wine, and a day built around three breweries and a distillery gives more people a stop they actually enjoy than three cellar doors would.
Can you cater for people who do not drink?
Yes, and on corporate days this needs more thought than on social ones. Some people do not drink for reasons they have not shared with their employer, so an itinerary that leaves non-drinkers with nothing to do quietly singles them out.
Every venue on the list has non-alcoholic options and several take them seriously. Maleny Cheese is a particularly useful inclusion — a stop that has nothing to do with alcohol and that the whole group enjoys, which is harder to arrange than it sounds.
What about our duty of care?
Every venue operates under Queensland’s responsible service of alcohol requirements and their staff make service decisions on their premises. Our drivers hold current Queensland driver authorisation for passenger transport, and every guest is returned to a nominated address rather than left to find their own way home. That last point carries more weight here than in the city, because rideshare coverage above the range is thin.
We can supply our certificate of currency and public liability details for your records. Ask at booking and we will send them with the confirmation.
How many people can you take?
Eight to forty-five on a single vehicle, and more across two vehicles in convoy. Above about twenty-five the hinterland venue list narrows sharply — Montville and Maleny rooms are small — and the coastal taprooms become the better answer. Your Mates at Warana and Land & Sea at Noosaville are both built for volume in a way a range cellar door is not.
Can we keep the morning productive?
Yes. A midday pick-up, two venues and a long lunch gets a team back by late afternoon and leaves the morning intact. On this coast a half day works best at sea level — squeezing the range into five hours means most of it is spent driving.
Do you do EOFY and Christmas functions?
Yes, and those two windows are the busiest of the year. Late June and the first three weeks of December fill at the venues well before they fill on our side. School holiday periods also congest the whole coast, so if your function falls near one, lock the date early.
Is the tour accessible?
It depends on the venues, and we will be specific rather than reassuring. The hinterland cellar doors are small rural businesses with gravel, garden terrain and the occasional short flight of steps. The coastal taprooms are newer and generally flatter, and Your Mates at Warana is the most reliably accessible option we have. Tell us what the group needs at enquiry and we will build the route from venues that genuinely accommodate it.
