Is the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers free?
Yes — entry to the feature floral displays in the public parks, including Queens Park and Laurel Bank Park, is free every day of the festival. Some signature events, private garden entries and premium experiences are ticketed. Our Carnival day tours start from $89 per person from Brisbane, $99 from the Gold Coast and $109 from the Sunshine Coast, including return coach travel, morning tea at Picnic Point and both premier gardens.
When is the Grand Central Floral Parade in 2026?
Saturday 19 September 2026. More than 30 flower-covered floats travel from Herries and Hume Streets along Margaret Street into Queens Park. 2026 marks Grand Central's 30th year supporting the parade.
What are the full 2026 festival dates?
Friday 18 September to Monday 5 October 2026 — the 77th Carnival, opening with Floral Friday and running across three feature weekends including FEASTival (26–27 September) and the Weekend Table (2–5 October).
How far is Toowoomba from Brisbane?
About 125 km west — roughly 90 minutes to two hours by road up the Great Dividing Range, depending on traffic. On festival weekends, allow longer if self-driving.
Where do I park during the Carnival?
Parking near Queens Park and the parade route fills very early on feature weekends, and streets along the parade route close on parade day. It's the single biggest complaint from self-drivers — and the single best reason to take the coach.
Are dogs allowed?
The festival has embraced dogs — the Paw Parade on Sunday 4 October 2026 is one of its most loved events, and dogs on leads are welcome in most public park areas under normal council rules. Check individual event conditions. Pets can't travel on our coaches, with the exception of assistance animals.
Is it suitable for children?
Absolutely — the parade, free gardens, playgrounds, markets, rides and entertainment make it one of Queensland's best family events, and it runs right through the school holidays.
Is it suitable for seniors or guests with limited mobility?
Yes. The main parks have sealed paths, accessible toilets and shaded seating, and coach touring removes the driving and parking entirely. Let us know about any mobility needs when booking and we'll plan pacing and drop-offs to suit.
What happens if it rains?
The gardens stay open rain or shine, and spring showers rarely dent the program. If the festival is cancelled or significantly altered by organisers, or we cancel a departure due to weather, you receive a full refund or free rebooking.
Do your tours include parade seating?
Parade-day departures are timed around the Grand Central Floral Parade, and inclusions vary by date. Check your specific tour listing when booking, or call us on 0409 661 342 and we'll walk you through what each departure includes.
Is it worth staying overnight?
If you want the parade plus private gardens, food events and the wider Darling Downs at a relaxed pace — yes. One day covers the highlights; two days covers the festival.
Can I bring my own food?
Picnics are welcome in the public parks — Picnic Point was named for a reason. That said, the festival's food program and Toowoomba's cafes make a strong case for leaving the esky at home.
What should I pack for spring in Toowoomba?
Toowoomba sits around 700 m above sea level, so days are mild but mornings and evenings can be genuinely crisp. Layers, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, camera. That's the kit.
Can I visit without buying tickets?
Yes — the showpiece displays in Queens Park and Laurel Bank Park are free and open daily throughout. Tickets only come into it for signature events, some private gardens and premium experiences.
What is your cancellation policy?
100% refund for cancellations made 30+ days before departure; 50% refund 14–29 days before; non-refundable within 14 days due to non-recoverable costs. If the festival itself is cancelled or significantly altered by organisers, full refunds apply. You can transfer your booking to another person free of charge with 7 days notice. We recommend travel insurance for added protection.
