Q1 Tower (short for Queensland Number One) opened on 26 October 2005 and was the world’s tallest residential building from 2005 to 2011. Designed by SDG and The Buchan Group, the form was inspired by the Sydney 2000 Olympic torch and the sails of the Sydney Opera House. It remains the tallest building in Australia and one of the great architectural landmarks of the southern hemisphere.
