The Cooee Travel Journal is published by Cooee Tours, a Brisbane-based ATAS-accredited private tour operator running guided day trips and itineraries across Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef, the east coast and beyond. We have hosted over 50,000 travellers since 2015.
Every guide on this page is written by someone who has actually run the trip - usually multiple times, often dozens. That is why our seasonal calendars list the right months, our city comparisons hold up against your second day on the ground, and our private-tour advice tells you when not to bother booking us.

Posts are written by our in-house editorial team and senior tour guides - all Brisbane-based locals with first-hand experience leading private tours across Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef, and the east coast.
Can I use these guides to plan an independent trip?
Absolutely. Every guide is written to be useful whether you book a tour with us or not. We share timing tips, packing advice, seasonal windows, and the small decisions that turn a good trip into a great one. If you do want a guided experience afterwards, our private tours are right here, but there is no pressure - the content has to earn its keep on its own.
Do you cover destinations outside Queensland?
Yes. While we are Brisbane-based, our journal covers Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, the east coast, the Red Centre, and key New Zealand crossings. City comparisons are a regular feature, and our 2-week east coast itinerary takes you all the way to the Great Barrier Reef.
